Twisted pervert Gerard Kendrick, who had a nappy fetish, raped and molested six children over two decades

A serial rapist with a nappy fetish was caught after taking horrific photos of a victim and sending them to another paedophile.

Gerard Kendrick raped and molested six children over two decades – beginning when he himself was aged just 10-years-old.

The twisted pervert, 32, forced little boys and girls to wear nappies while carrying out sickening attacks on traumatised victims.

But his disturbing crimes only came to light last year, after police seized indecent images from a known sex offender in Blackburn.

Using GPS technology, officers discovered some of the photographs were created at Kendrick’s Barmouth Way, Vauxhall home.

They later found the stash included pictures Kendrick took of him raping a little boy, who he made wear a nappy, in 2017 and 2018.

When he was arrested over the find last year, five more victims – now adults – came forward to report he had also ruined their lives.

Kendrick was today jailed for 18 years, with an extended six years on licence, for the “disgraceful catalogue of sexual offending”.

Judge Robert Warnock said: “You have stolen the innocence and enjoyment of their childhood and scarred and impaired their adult life.”

Liverpool Crown Court heard police recovered hundreds of indecent images from the computer of convicted paedophile Trevor Howard.

The 60-year-old, of no fixed address but formerly of Whalley Old Road, Blackburn, was jailed for 18 months in November last year.

Arthur Gibson, prosecuting, said: “As part of the development of investigatory techniques in relation to the production and distribution of indecent images of children, the police are now able to subject recovered images to a programme, which is capable of revealing a GPS location, and date and time when a particular image was created.”

How he was caught

The innovative software identified that images had been sent from GPS locations in Liverpool, including Stanley Dock and Kendrick’s nearby home.

Merseyside Police examined his Facebook account, which led them to contact a couple, whose child they believed had been abused and pictured.
They visited the pair, who confirmed it was their child and said they recognised Kendrick’s bathroom in one picture, which led to his house being raided.

Share a ‘nappy fetish’

Kendrick arrived home mid-search and claimed: “I may have took one or two photos when he was in a nappy, but I didn’t know it was wrong.

“I know my computer was hacked and I had to wipe it clean.”

Mr Gibson said: “The relevance of the nappy is that Howard and the defendant share an interest in a nappy fetish, and a large number of the indecent images involved children in nappies.”

They recovered 3,416 indecent images, including 668 Category A pictures – the most serious category – from Kendrick’s computer.

Mr Gibson said Kendrick, who also had revolting extreme porn, must have distributed the pictures of the boy directly or indirectly to Howard via a third party of sharing site.

The court heard his five other victims were aged between six and 12 when Kendrick, then aged between 10 and 21, abused them in the 1990s and 2000s.

One boy recalled how Kendrick had once been violent, dragged him around and thrown him against a bed, before raping him.

A girl said he pushed her onto a bed, held her arms and covered her mouth when molesting her, hit and threatened her, and repeatedly attempted to rape her.

Mr Gibson said: “On occasions the defendant’s nappy fetish came to the fore – he would make her wear a nappy and walk around the room.”

A second girl told police he asked her to play the game of “being the baby”, made her lie on a bed, undressed and abused her.

Kendrick molested a third girl while another boy was present, making the boy face the wall, before he abused the boy while she faced the wall.

Tears in court

He admitted 16 sexual offences including rape, attempted rape, sexual assault, indecent assault, and making and distributing indecent photos of children.

Victims and their supporters sitting in the public gallery cried as the abuse was described, with one upset man leaving the courtroom.

Some observers snorted in derision when it was said Kendrick – sitting stone-faced and staring straight ahead – claimed to be sorry.

Michael O’Brien, defending, said: “The defendant understands that there is very little that can be said on his behalf.

“He maintains the account that he gave to the author of the pre-sentence report, namely that he is disgusted by what he’s done, and maintains his desire to apologise to his victims for the harm and distress, and take advantage of any treatment programmes that may be offered to him.”

Judge Warnock said Kendrick’s “sexual abuse and degradation” of his victims represented “a disgraceful catalogue of sexual offending”.

He said: “You sexually abused your victims and downloaded indecent images entirely for your own selfish and sexual enjoyment.

“You did not have any consideration whatsoever for the welfare or innocence of these children.

“Unwilling” to address what he had done.

“It seems that you regarded them as objects available to satiate your own fetishes and perversions.”

A psychologist found Kendrick – who claimed he too was a victim of sexual abuse – was “unwilling and unable” to address what he had done.

The doctor concluded he was “an active participant in a sexual fetish”, while a probation officer found he had “little or no insight” into his crimes.

“Dangerous offender”

Judge Warnock said: “I am unsure as to the genuineness of the remorse expressed.”

He said Kendrick was a high risk of sexual harm to children and a “dangerous offender”, who must sign on the Sex Offenders Register for life.

This type of extended sentence means the paedophile will spend at least two thirds of the custodial term – 12 years – behind bars.

He will only be freed before the end of the 18 years if a parole board decides it is safe and will be on licence until he is 56.

Speaking after the hearing, Detective Sergeant Richie Shillito, who investigated the incident, said: “Gerard Kendrick subjected his six victims to vicious and violent sexual assaults for his own sexual gratification.

“I would like to praise the bravery and courage of the victims for the strength they have shown in speaking to us about the ordeal they were put through by Kendrick.

Victims praised

“Their support of our investigation has led to a dangerous sexual predator being sent to jail for a long period of time, and to other children being protected from him.

“The victims and their families were supported by specially trained officers from Merseyside Polices Unity Team during the course of the investigation and court process.

“Merseyside Police will always listen to victims of sexual violence, whether it is recent or not, and whatever the circumstances. We will treat all victims with sensitivity, compassion and as individuals with individual needs.

“There is a great deal of support and advice out there and we can put measures in place to help victims from the point they make a report to the police right through to the court hearing.

“I would urge anyone who has been sexually assaulted or raped to find it within themselves to tell someone what has happened to them so that they do not continue to suffer in silence.

A “dangerous predator” who raped two young boys and sexually abused four other children has been jailed for 18 years.

Gerard Kendrick, of Vauxhall, was sentenced to a further six years on licence after pleading guilty to 16 sex offences at Liverpool Crown Court.

The 32-year-old abused three boys and three girls, aged between six and 12, over two decades.

His first offence was committed when he was 10 years old.

Detectives were led to Kendrick when they found a large number of indecent images of children on the computer of a known sex offender in Lancashire.

They used technology to establish that the photos, which included images of one of the rape victims, had been taken at Kendrick’s home and distributed via the internet.

‘Fetishes and perversions’

The rape of a six-year-old boy took place in the last two years, the court heard.

Judge Robert Warnock told Kendrick he had abused his victims for his “own selfish and sexual enjoyment”.

“You did not have any consideration whatsoever for the welfare or innocence of those children. It seems that you regarded them as objects available to satiate your own fetishes and perversions,” he added.

Det Sgt Richie Shillito from Merseyside Police said: “Gerard Kendrick subjected his six victims to vicious and violent sexual assaults for his own sexual gratification.”

He praised the “bravery and courage” of the victims that “led to a dangerous sexual predator being sent to jail”.

Kendrick, who has no previous convictions, was ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register for life. He will have to serve 12 years before being able to apply for parole.

A Tommy Robinson supporter and convicted rapist has been jailed for 28 days for posting threatening and abusive comments about home secretary Sajid Javid.

Wayne Kirby, 49, was handed the sentence after leaving remarks on Mr Javid’s Facebook page last summer.

The Northolt man called for the Tory politician to be “hung, drawn and quartered” if anything happened to the infamous far-right activist. He also called Mr Javid “a Muslim terrorist”.

He ended his post by saying Mr Javid should “legally get ready to die boy”.

Kirby served six years after being convicted for rape in 2007, Westminster Magistrates’ Court heard.

Officers from London’s Metropolitan Police discovered the post had been sent from a phone and Facebook profile linked to Kirby after the home secretary’s office reported the threat.

The Tommy Robinson supporter was also found guilty of possession of cannabis, which breached his conditional discharge of a previous class B conviction.

Sentencing chief magistrate Emma Arbuthnot said: “The use of the word ‘boy’ was to humiliate the politician and there was clear racial and religious undertones.

“It was deliberate and hostile and this is something I take very seriously. Why should politicians and their staff work in this threatening environment? You say you didn’t mean it, it was out of character and it was idle but the trouble is that some people do put this into effect, as we have seen in the past.

“You are a loner and have no relationships and I accept it was sent on the spur of the moment.”

Kirby, who said he had been due to start a new job cleaning out wheelie bins, was fined £250 in relation to the possession of cannabis and also ordered to pay £150 in costs.

Detective Inspector Phil Grindell, from Scotland Yard’s parliamentary liaison team said: “As this investigation shows, we take all reports of crimes from MPs very seriously and we will deal robustly with incidents of harassment and abuse that are brought to our attention.

“It is not right that anyone is harassed, intimidated or obstructed because of their job, and we will fully investigate any reports of crimes against MPs or their staff and look to bring those responsible to justice.”

Kirby pleaded guilty to rape after 14 years.

Kirby pleaded guilty to rape after 14 years.

A RAPIST has been jailed for six years for a attack on a woman 14 years ago, after he was identified through advances in forensic technology.

Wayne Kirby, 37, of Dabbs Hill, Northholt, was arrested in October 2007 after being identified through DNA samples taken at the time of the attack.

Kirby pleaded guilty to rape on October 31 at Southwark Crown Court, and was sentenced yesterday to six years in prison.

He will also have to sign the Sex Offenders Register for life.

On May 18, 1993, the day of the attack, Kirby climbed through the window of his victim’s ground-floor hostel room in Dove House Court, Kittiwake Road, Notholt.

The victim, who was at home looking after her sick baby, had left the window open to let in some air when she went to bed, just before midnight.

She woke up a little later, fearing there was someone in her room.

Kirby then attacked and raped her, as her six-month-old baby slept in bed next to them.

Police arrested four suspects at the time, but their DNA profiles did not match any on the National DNA Database, and they were released.

DC Lana Kettel, who led the investigation for Greenwood Police, said: “I hope this case will give other potential victims the strength to come forward and report previously unreported offences to police.

“I’d like to reassure the community that the police will prosecute offenders for offences that have remained undetected for a number of years.”

In 2002 the Sapphire Cold Case Investigation Team was set up to investigate all unsolved rape allegations reported to the Met.

The man who groomed and murdered Blackpool girl Paige Chivers has been given a further jail term for subjecting two young children to a catalogue of vile physical and sexual abuse more than a decade before killing the vulnerable teen.

Robert Ewing, 66, was jailed for life in 2015 for the 2007 murder of 15-year-old Paige, whom he had exploited sexually.

Robert Ewing and Paige Chivers

It has since emerged that he terrorised a young girl and boy in the early 1990s, with one of the children as young as five.

He was given 15 years in jail after being found guilty of the latest offences at Preston Crown Court – but the court heard due to his ongoing 32-year sentence he is not eligible for parole until he is aged 92.

Judge Philip Parry said Ewing could appear “charming and beguiling” to other adults.

But he told the killer: “Behind closed doors with children you were a brutal, perverted and sadistic bully.

“Many would describe you as evil incarnate. You are in judgement a modern day monster.”

He said Ewing made the girl’s life “an utter misery” while treating the boy “like a play thing”.

The court heard he subjected the little boy to physical abuse by tying him up, throwing urine at him, defecating on his bed, throwing him around, dragging him by his hair and hitting him with a back scratcher.

He was found guilty of two counts of indecently assaulting the boy, and a count of child cruelty towards each of the children.

Some jurors were visibly distressed as they were then told he was responsible for Paige’s murder and other offences.

Ewing, wearing a bottle green jumper, sat with his arms folded gave no reaction as the girl, now a grown woman, stood in the witness box to tell the court how his depraved behaviour affected her.

She said: “He tried to rid me of my pride, my dignity, and my identity.

“He became a permanent image in my mind. I saw him all the time. I would wake up and I couldn’t breathe.”

She said she needed years of therapy to deal with the effects of her abuse, adding: “Now I know I can walk away from all of this and be free.”

The boy, in a statement, said: “I really believed when he made threats to kill me I thought he would do it.

“I was made to feel I must have been so naughty that Robert Ewing was punishing me for what I had done.”

The court previously heard how the child killer forced the girl to watch while he tortured the boy, who was just seven or eight-years-old at the time.

He would subject her to cold baths and would force her head under the water until she couldn’t breathe.

The girl, who was aged as young as nine, was frequently woken at night and made to crawl around and pick up fluff from the carpet.

The boy was also made to stand naked on a chair while Ewing watched him, and he would sexually assault him.

Previously prosecutor Robert Dudley told the jury: “He would be told that was what he got for being a dirty, disgusting thing.”

The court heard the boy’s headmaster raised concerns about rope burns on the boy’s wrists – caused by Ewing – but he was “too scared to tell the truth” and blamed them on another child.

A later police investigation saw Ewing convicted of two counts of gross indecency and one count of indecent assault at Wolverhampton Crown Court in 1995.

In 2007, Ewing, formerly of Kincraig Place, Bispham, was convicted of murdering Paige Chivers, who was last seen on August 23, 2007, at a bus stop in Ashfield Road, Bispham.

The 15-year-old’s body has never been found but Ewing was convicted of killing her in his flat after bloodstains were found.

He was also found guilty of perverting the course of justice.

During a search of Ewing’s flat in All Hallows Road, Bispham, police officers found a hoard of cuttings about the case and about the murder.

A PAEDOPHILE who preyed on three children has been jailed for 18 years.

Peter Gillett was convicted of raping a young girl when she was between the ages of 13 and 15.

One of the charges included multiple rapes against the teenager, along with indecent assault, and an assault that caused her actual bodily harm.

The self-employed 59-year-old was also convicted child cruelty and gross indecency towards a boy aged between eight and 15, and indecent assault against a girl aged between 13 and 15.

Lewes Crown Court heard that the offences against the children, who were known to him, took place between 1988 and 1996.

He also stood trial for possessing a stun gun at his home in Arundel Road in Littlehampton when police arrested him in 2016.

Detective Constable Rees Hopcraft said: “These offences came to light in 2016 when the two girls, by then in their forties, contacted us after learning of online postings suggesting that Gillett had committed sexual offences against the boy.

“We investigated and gradually uncovered a series of offences of sexual abuse by him against all three victims when they were young and vulnerable children, over a period of years.

“All three gave evidence against him and after a long trial, during which Gillett discharged his counsel and defended himself, the jury found him guilty of the sexual offences.

“We will always take seriously and follow up such reports, regardless of how long ago the events are said to have occurred.”

At his trial in February, he was found not guilty of a further rape and indecent assault against the first girl, and one charge of indecent assault against the boy.

He was jailed for 18 years for the offences, and for one year concurrent for possessing the stun gun.

Brighton Argus

A Littlehampton man has been sentenced to 18 years in prison over a series of child sex offences in Crawley.

Police said that at Lewes Crown Court, on February 16, Peter Gillett, 59, of Arundel Road, was convicted of seven counts of non-recent sexual offences in Crawley, some involving multiple occasions, against two young girls and a young boy.

Sentencing awaited the outcome of a separate trial for Gillett for possession of a stun gun found at his address when he was arrested in 2016, police said.

They added he was convicted of that offence, too, and was given a 12-month sentence to run concurrently with the sex offence sentencing.

A court-imposed reporting restriction had prohibited publication of news of the sex offence sentences until the stun gun offence had been dealt with.

Police said Gillett will be a registered sex offender for life.

He was convicted of: two counts of rape, two of indecent assault, one of multiple offences of rape and indecent assault, one of causing actual bodily harm, against a girl; one count of gross indecency and a count of child cruelty against a boy and one count of indecent assault against a girl.

He was found not guilty of a count of rape and a count of indecent assault against the first girl and one count of indecent assault against the boy, police added.

The prosecution followed an investigation by detectives from the West Sussex Safeguarding Investigations Unit.

Detective Constable Rees Hopcraft said the offences came to light in 2016 when the two female victims, then adults, contacted police ‘after learning of online postings suggesting that Gillett had committed sexual offences against the boy’.

DC Hopcraft added: “We investigated and gradually uncovered a series of offences of sexual abuse by him against all three victims when they were young and vulnerable children, over a period of years.

“All three gave evidence against him and after a long trial, during which Gillett discharged his counsel and defended himself, the jury found him guilty of the sexual offences.

“We will always take seriously and follow up such reports, regardless of how long ago the events are said to have occurred.”

Arthur 'Misty' Thackeray got numbers from slimming world posters and an advert in a shop window

Arthur ‘Misty’ Thackeray got numbers from slimming world posters and an advert in a shop window

The former chairman of UKIP in Scotland has been given a final opportunity to comply with a court order or face jail.

Arthur “Misty” Thackeray, 57, admitted making a string of vulgar phone calls between October 2007 and December 2015 involving 10 different women.

He took the numbers from slimming world posters and an advert in a shop window.

But after being sentenced to a community payback order with various conditions he was back in the dock for a review of his court order.

Glasgow Sheriff Court heard he had not been fully compliant with the order.

And it emerged he told his supervising officer that the phone calls were “consensual”.

The court heard that as a result of his attitude, he is unsuitable for a sex offenders’ programme.

‘One final opportunity’

Sheriff Martin Jones QC asked defence lawyer Craig Broadley: “Is he willing to accept that this is why he’s here?

“All these women, obviously having made complaints to the police?

“Is he deluding himself about whether or not these were consensual in nature?”

The sheriff added that the order was a “direct alternative to prison”.

He added: “I can easily revoke the order if he’s not complying and impose a custodial sentence.”

Mr Broadley confirmed Thackeray was aware he must engage fully.

He also told the court his his client would make a proper effort to comply.

The sheriff added: “I’m giving him one final opportunity, I expect to see an acceptance on his part, working with his supervising officer and changing his attitude.”

Thackeray will return to the court next month.

‘Violated and alarmed’

The calls were made from his home in Glasgow’s east end, at 1 Colme Street, Edinburgh and “elsewhere”.

UKIP Scotland leader and MEP David Coburn’s office is at the same address in the capital.

Thackeray pled guilty to nine charges of intentionally sending, or directing “sexual verbal communication” between 1 December 2010 and 19 December, 2015.

The women’s ages ranged from 25-year-old to 66 at the time of the offences.

He was handed a community payback order with the conditions he will be supervised for three years, will carry out 270 hours of unpaid work within nine months and will be on the sex offenders’ register for three years.

THE arrest of the man at the head of a massive paedophile network led police to a pervert in Coventry, it has emerged.

Roderick Rowley, who stood as a candidate for the BNP in Coventry’s Woodlands Ward in the local elections in 2004, was jailed for 15 months in December after sending obscene images involving children.

The 51-year-old admitted 14 charges of making indecent photographs, four of distributing them and one charge of possessing an image for distribution.

Rowley was arrested at what was then his home in Knightlow Avenue, Willenhall, Coventry, in February last year.

Police tracked down Rowley after arresting Oliver Smith in January last year.

Smith, aged 39, formerly of Rotherfield Road, Sheldon, Birmingham, was the head of a huge child pornography network.

Smith was jailed for three years and nine months on Monday for making, distributing and possessing more than 2,000 images of children.

He traded pictures with more than 630 people.

Smith had been found guilty of four charges of making indecent photographs, four of distributing and two of possessing them.

Birmingham Crown Court was told he sent 1,848 pictures and film clips involving children as young as three months.

Sentencing Smith, Judge Phillip Gregory said: “I cannot describe the utter vileness of the photos you considered it appropriate to investigate, download onto your computer, store, and distribute to other like-minded people interested in such gross sexual contact with young children.”

Nigel Hesmondhalgh

Nigel Hesmondhalgh

A NEIGHBOUR from hell who launched a four-year ‘race hate’ campaign against a family has now been jailed for possessing child porn.

Nigel Hesmondhalgh, 37, is beginning a nine-month sentence after a series of degrading photos and videos of children were found on his home computer.

Detectives have welcomed the punishment, imposed by Judge Simon Newell at Burnley Crown Court, on Hesmondhalgh, of Stanley Street, Accrington.

The judge also ordered him to sign the sex offenders’ register for 10 years.

Hesmondhalgh was only released from a 30-week jail sentence in November when police swooped on his Hyndburn home.

His computer was seized within a fortnight and was found to contain no fewer than 29 indecent images of children, and 11 similar videos.

Four of the pictures, and three of the videos, were graded at level four, the second most serious category of child pornography.

After the case, Detective Inspector Claire Holbrook said: “I hope this case will serve as a warning to those who view such material that we will find them out, arrest them and do everything with- in our power to prosecute them.

“In downloading this material the viewers indirectly cause these horrific offences and images to continue to be produced.”

Hesmondhalgh was jailed at the Burnley court in March for an offence of racially-aggravated harassment.

Police obtained a two-year Anti-Social Behaviour Order against him, before his release, to prevent him from throwing dog dirt into his neighbours’ garden, or using racist language towards an Asian family.
