Renshaw, pictured at a National Action rally, was also jailed for 16 months in 2018 for four counts of grooming adolescent boys

A neo-Nazi who planned to murder Labour MP Rosie Cooper has been jailed for life.

Jack Renshaw, 23, from Skelmersdale, Lancashire, must serve at least 20 years in prison.

A judge at the Old Bailey said Renshaw, who earlier admitted preparing an act of terrorism, wanted to “replicate” the murder of Jo Cox.

Renshaw made a Nazi salute towards supporters as he was led to the cells from the dock.

He pleaded guilty on the first day of his trial to buying a machete to kill the West Lancashire MP and making threats to kill police officer Det Con Victoria Henderson.

A jury twice failed to reach a verdict on charges relating to his membership of banned neo-Nazi group National Action.

Sentencing him, Judge Justice McGowan said Renshaw’s “perverted view of history and current politics” led him to “an attempt to damage our entire system of democracy”.

She said: “You praised the murder of Jo Cox in tweets and posts in June 2017. In some bizarre way you saw this as a commendable act and set out to replicate that behaviour.”

The judge added Renshaw had made “detailed arrangements” and studied Ms Cooper’s itinerary.

The knife Renshaw bought was described by the online seller as offering “19 inches of unprecedented piercing and slashing power at a bargain price”

Giving evidence during his first National Action trial last summer, he said he wanted to murder the MP “to send the state a message”.

He got as far as buying a 19in (48cm) Gladius knife and told members of National Action about his plan during a meeting in a Warrington pub in July 2017.

The plot was foiled by whistleblower and former National Action member, Robbie Mullen, who was secretly passing information to anti-racism charity Hope not Hate, which informed police.

Police arrested Renshaw and found the machete hidden in an airing cupboard at his uncle’s house.

In a victim impact statement, Ms Cooper said it was “like something out of a horror movie”.

Friends and family had encouraged her to stand down from Parliament but she refused because “that would allow tyranny to prevail”.

After the sentencing, Ms Cooper said “justice has been served”.

Renshaw was also jailed for 16 months in June 2018 for four counts of grooming adolescent boys.

Det Con Henderson, who was investigating the child sex offences, said she “had sleepless nights” until he was arrested.

“I am not prepared to let Jack Renshaw ruin my everyday life,” she said.

The judge praised the two women and told Renshaw: “You have not defeated them.”

She said he had acted in a polite manner towards Det Con Henderson while planning to kill her in an act of revenge.

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said it presented evidence that persuaded Renshaw to plead guilty, including online research on cutting the jugular artery and how long it would take someone to die from the wound.

Jenny Hopkins, CPS head of counter terror, said: “Jack Renshaw was prepared to act on his white supremacist world view and plotted to kill a Member of Parliament – a plan reminiscent of the abhorrent murder of Jo Cox MP.”

Renshaw was also jailed for three years in 2018 for stirring up racial hatred in two anti-Semitic speeches in 2016.

A senior member of the English Defence League (EDL), has been jailed for 17 years after he abused a 10-year-old girl 100 times.

Leigh McMillan, 46, from Milton Keynes, groomed the child with cigarettes and drugs before subjecting her to the abuse during the mid-1990s.

McMillan attacked the schoolgirl on her mother’s bed and warned her not to tell on him.

He assaulted her around 100 times, the court heard.

McMillan is a lead figure in the EDL’s most unwanted ‘Lee Rigby’ campaign – a campaign to use the soldier’s death for further hatred.

A judge at the Old Bailey sentenced him on Monday to 17 years behind bars.

A representative from the Hope Not Hate Campaign, set up to fight fascism, was in court to witness his downfall.

“He seemed really embarrassed and looked ashamed He normally comes across as cocky when he speaking for the EDL, so this was quite a difference,” he said.

Hope Not Hate describe McMillan as a leading figure in the far right movement.

They say groups he has been affiliated with have been quick to criticise Muslims over child abuse following high profile cases of Asian grooming gangs.

But McMillan’s own arrest and conviction caused red-faces among his colleagues, claim Hope Not Hate.

“Members of far group groups have tried to hush it up,” said the spokesman.

It is alleged one far right campaigner wrote on Twitter: “We don’t want the left rubbing our noses in the dirt pretending they are whiter than white ourselves.”

Hope Not Hate was founded in 2004 to provide a “positive antidote to the politics of hate”. It helps expose illegal activities of extremists.

Member of far-right group which accuses Muslims of paedophilia sentenced to 17 years for sexual abuse of girl.

A senior member of the English Defence league (EDL), and a contributor to a plethora of far-right social media groups, has been sentenced at the Old Bailey to 17 years today after he abused a schoolgirl 100 times and left her feeling “every day was Groundhog Day”.

Leigh McMillan, 46, from Milton Keynes, groomed his 10-year-old victim with cigarettes and drugs before subjecting her to a “spiral of sexual abuse” during the mid-1990s.

McMillan attacked the girl as she lay on her mother’s bed and and warned: “You mustn’t tell your mum “she’d be really upset.” He assaulted the schoolgirl around 100 times.

McMillan, who used the name ‘McMillen’ on social media, is a lead figure in the EDL’s most unwanted ‘Lee Rigby’ campaign – a campaign to use the soldier’s death for further hatred.

McMillan is a popular figure in the far right, so much so that a number of fellow far-right figures have been trying desperately to cover up his child abuse.

For example, Margate nazi Gary Field has asked his racist colleagues not to let anyone find out McMillan was an EDL member.

As of yet, the EDL has not responded, but is forging ahead with plans for an anti-Muslim march – where it will (once again) charge Muslims with being paedophiles.

Shaun Jones, 19, of Haydn Road, West Derby, jailed for nine years for sex attacks on girl, 12,

Shaun Jones, 19, of Haydn Road, West Derby, jailed for nine years for sex attacks on girl, 12,

A Merseyside army cadet sergeant who groomed, exploited and raped a vulnerable 12-year-old schoolgirl was today jailed for nine years.

Predator Shaun Jones manipulated and humiliated his child victim as he carried out a string of vile sex attacks when he was aged 17.

Jones, of Haydn Road, West Derby, was today locked up on his 19th birthday after admitting a raft of 20 sex offence charges.

Liverpool Crown Court heard how Jones’s victim became “infatuated” and “obsessed” after he put her “under his spell”.

Judge David Aubrey, QC, said: “You took away her innocence, you took away her childhood, you took away her virginity.

“You sexually assaulted her in a variety of different ways over a period of time.

“I am quite satisfied that you were manipulating her and were doing so for your own sexual gratification.”

The court heard how Jones made the girl perform sex acts upon him, raped her, and indecently attacked the youngster in public.

He also demanded the girl send x-rated images and video of herself, and sent explicit ones in return.

The youngster told police that Jones had made her “fall in love” with him, even though she “didn’t want to be”.

She told officers: “I knew it wasn’t right. I knew I shouldn’t be doing it but I became obsessed with him.”

The girl also said she blamed herself and believed what happened to her was her own fault.

But Judge Aubrey said: “She was wrong about that. It wasn’t her fault at all.

“It was yours, in consequence of your grooming, your exploitation.

“That observation by her illustrates the psychological harm and the scars you have left.

“She was the victim, you were the perpetrator.”

The court heard that the girl was undergoing counselling and had become withdrawn, often locking herself in her bedroom.

Judge Aubrey said she had suffered “everlasting and permanent” damage.

Robert Wyn Jones, defending, said Jones was remorseful and had tried to take his life while on remand in prison.

He said his client had “excelled” while in the cadets.

Mr Wyn Jones said: “He tells me there have been suicide attempts while at Altcourse, so to a degree he is a vulnerable young man.

“But I can’t press that too far because he initiated the relationship and persisted in it.

“He has asked me to apologise on his behalf.”

Jones was also indefinitely banned from associating with children and changing his name under the terms of a sexual harm prevention order.
